The Alzheimer's Association


The Alzheimer's Association is the oldest and largest national voluntary organization dedicated to research for the causes, cure, and prevention of Alzheimer's disease and to providing education and support services to individuals affected by the disease, their families, and caregivers.

Founded in 1980 by a group of dedicated family members, the Alzheimer's Association today works through a network of more than 220 local chapters, 2,000 support groups, and 35,000 volunteers. The organization is officially known as the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association and has its national headquarters in Chicago, IL.

The Alzheimer's Association is a major source of funding for Alzheimer's research. The organization is leading the way in defining and implementing quality of care guidelines for dementia patients and provides a wide range of programs and services to support individuals with Alzheimer's and their families.
