Helpline -a 1-800 line for
caregivers and others with questions concerning Alzheimer's disease and
caregiving issues.
Support Groups -monthly meetings
throughout the chapter service area designed to provide supportive services
for caregivers of Alzheimer's and related dementia patients. Please see
attached listing for contact information.
Respite Assistance Program (RAP)
-financial assistance for caregivers to help defray the cost of care.
One time grants of $500 are provided after assessment and qualification
criteria are met. The funds cover the cost of in-home, weekend and overnight respite and adult day
respite.
Lending Library -a collection of
books, journals, audio and videotapes are available for persons who may be
seeking more information on Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.
Very Special Person Identification
(VSPID) -a statewide program that provides identification for persons
at risk of wandering. A $10.00 fee for this program is charged, however no one
will be refused due to inability to pay the fee.
Safe Return -a nationwide
program that provides identification for person at risk of wandering. A $40.00
fee is charged, however, some scholarship monies are available to help cover
the cost.
Education/Training -professional
training is offered to agencies, groups, and individuals, and can be tailored
to suit the requestors needs.
Speakers Bureau - presentations on specific issues related to Alzheimer's disease
Advocacy -volunteers and staff
advocating for the needs of persons affected by Alzheimer's disease and
related disorders.
Topical Information -printed
matter for distribution on a variety of subjects including legal issues,
wandering, communication, financial issues, etc.
Annual Alzheimer's Education
Symposium -a daylong professional conference on Alzheimer's disease
held each August in Columbia for statewide participants.
Memory Walk -a series of eight
fun-filled walks to raise funds to support the work of the Association held in
